day 111: “unofficial” temple

lawThere is the official temples, you walk to on the henro – and there are the unofficial ones. The ones where you find some coffee (hallelujah), where you find bread, go to the toilet and enjoy the air condition. It´s the “combini stores” (Convenient stores), like Lawson or 7-11, you find on the way.

I love japanese food, but japanese breakfast with fish, rice, algae and a raw egg at 6:30 in the morning is sometimes hard to take for an European taste. So it´s lovely to get to a combini store and enjoy a bit of western food. Amen!

  1. Japanese convenience stores rock. It is time they export the model to Canada–I cannot remember the last time I went into one here, but in Japan I probably visited one a day.
