day 25: stone or silk

IMG_3768Here it is, tataaaaaa: the spectacular Pamir Highway ( + detours). It is the most impressive landscape I´ve seen so far. I took 300 pictures on that day and couldn´t stop looking and looking. Sometimes you´re over 4000 meters high, the air is clean and fresh. For hours there is no village or other car around. Once in a while you pass a military post, where you have to show your passport. What more can I say: It is very remote out here.

At one moment the mountains look dry, hard and harsh. But suddenly the light changes, some clouds come through and all the mountain ranges smoothen. Suddenly there are colors from red to olive and light green, brown and beige, a little bit of grey and the mountains look like silk. You never know what you get up here: stone or silk.
